Hostel wala Noodles!!

this rainy evening and the lazy day made me down and gave me lil stamina to sit and  write something for you ladies (from girlz i guess) -- it might be after decade !!! Yes it is right!

Proud and happy to share with you some of your words and fun activities, what  i remembered !! The hostel, where we spent years after years is like a second home- where our only asset is our own Bed !! The hostel is like a second home where we are provided with a chance to explore ourselves besides all the crazy stuff which makes hostel life even more special. The memories with friends in hostel life are always priceless whether fighting over a sleeping place near to window or Corridor !!

Before going to the hostel, my family was telling that living in a hostel would be very tough as i will have to do all my stuff, things got real smooth by the passage of time unexpectedly. It feels really good to do your own stuff at hostel with matching the high pace regarding studies and other activities. My life in a hostel is also packed with full of craziness and excitement as I am blessed with a lot of good friends and colleagues but some important aspects I want to mention specifically which are, what i remembered --A Hostel is all about interacting with different people from different backgrounds and your life becomes full of fun when your room-mate turns out to be your best friend. Life in a hostel teaches how to get out of your comfort zone to compromise with the habits of others.

As the time passes, this friendship becomes a priceless bond which is always close to your heart and became more fainted smell and silent, the older you get !! You get adjusted with each other in no time and get to know each other’s personalities very well, support each other in the difficult times and your life becomes real fun while staying together, eating together, laughing out loud together and the list goes on.Go out- for shopping, eating and sometimes just wandering around the city with the right people is all what you need, some days you enjoy cooking together. You plan to watch movies and sometimes you just enjoy the random gossips.Decorating your room and making it prettier than other girls’ rooms, this is your main mission of staying at the hostel. You can decorate your room with attractive posters, photographs and lots and lots of attractive stuff that eventually you will end up spending major part of your pocket money buying such stuff.
Sometimes you feel so lazy to cook something time taking and then here’s the ‘Holy 2 minute Maggie” to save you from starvation. It saves your time and you don’t need to starve though Maggie always plays a vital role at the end of the month after spending a lot a money on food lavishly – ending your pocket money before you get the new. The funniest part how we made our Maggie with an immersion rod !!
We just just made some water left in a steel bowl as much as time, the bowl can beat the heat, then just put some cruchy Maggie in it and cover the bowl  with the heaviest book, what you have !! I always used to put kreyszig Mathematics Book or Instrumentation Book(A.K Shawhney) and you no need to stir your Maggie and found your tasty boiled noodles ready to eat !! I was loving It!! and today i made same boiled Maggie with no additives !!
Weekend Nights in the hostel are fun. If you have nothing to do and feel bored just put on some desi songs and hit the floor. You don’t need to be a pro dancer, if you know how to have fun, you can dance to your craziest level without any self consciousness.
Miss you All !! Happy friendship day    !!

Shubhashree !!

week in week out

                                                         On a Monday
I tried
To begin my life anew
Till on Tuesday
A feeling of uneasiness, doubtfulness  grew
Come Wednesday
And a sling of self-accusations flew
Thursday brought with itself
A slightly depressive hue
So that Friday
From me
Little excitement drew
And the weekend
Brought with it
It’s own heavy due
Till on Monday
I decided
To live my life a new-
fly high and catch you light, hug you tight

P.S- first try

My Woman of Substance !!

There is a change afoot. A little vein of gold ore has rippled through our lives and altered the status quo, brightening everything in its path. It is a change amid many changes and, as I am wont to do, I have tried to place it perfectly. To make it fit without changing anything else. To order things as I think they might be pleasing to everyone. Myself included.

But Life isn’t like that. The Universe doesn’t filter blessings through a funnel and into the only space they might fit. The Universe doesn’t see the order and go to the back of the line. No, the Universe drizzles blessings over a life in a dizzy, sort of haphazard and celebratory fashion. Our only job is to turn the umbrella upside down and collect as many drops as possible.
And in some ways–

Well, in a lot of ways. I feel like I put my needs in front of  MOM’ her whole lives. . That’s my knee jerk self-narrative. That I’ve been a taker and not a giver. But when I really study my life for the past nine years, I think that’s actually not the case at all. For seven years I have sacrificed anything I might call my own—gladly and willingly—to be of service to these . To right my wrongs. To be the port in the storm. To be the calm amid . And it was a choice I made one hundred percent peacefully. It was a pure pleasure to be of use. To be of service.

I devoted my life to myself as well. My own heart. My own soul. And in many ways, my own pain. I sat many nights in the dark untangling my own secret shames. Going back to where it broke and healing it properly. I said to a friend once that I feel like everywhere I look there are broken pieces. She rephrased my words more kindly, “Only frayed edges,” she said. “and you can simply tie them back together.”

My life was solitary. I did not look like other people’s. It did not look like every holiday special. It did not look like Valentine’s Day commercials. It was not reflected back to me by the media or by Bollywood, Hollywood as any version of success or completeness. But I knew this was right. I knew this was the journey I understood: to be of service. This, the long road. The long way around.
I purged broken dreams. Lost paths. Comparative thinking. I built up a world that was my definition of success. That was complete to my way of thinking.

Along the way, I hope I was a good friend. Undoubtedly I am a good friend of my Mother. And I hope I am faithful. I think I am. I kept my head down and worked to be patient. I was determined to be a channel of peace. I worked to meet chaos with gentleness in so many places and I think I succeeded as much as I didn’t at that. But I wanted so much, and it was so clear to me, that I should try to clear out confusion and make a little light.

But, these blessings. Drip drop. They came when I wasn’t looking.
Here and there. A little of this. A little of that. A blink. A smile. A wish.
Drip, drip, drop.

I said to Mamma  the other day, “Is this okay? Is this weird? Are we okay in this new space? On the doorstep of this new thing?”

She unfolded herself from her bed and came over and gave me a hug, that day !!

“Mom,”  i said. “You have given your life to us. There isn’t a time I remember where you took anything for yourself. Not food. Not money. Not clothes. Not time.”

She said, “Look…I had to force you to promise me the other day that you would use that much  on yourself and not me and Will!” And we laughed for a little bit at that. Then her expression sobered again.

“Mom,” she said again. “It’s time. It’s time for you to take something for yourself. Something that is just for you. It’s okay–we’re okay–because of you.”
And so.

And so we are. And so I will .. !!

Birthday Hug !!!

In the short time that we have fallen  for each other, the fist time i felt your warmness with my palm, that afternoon i saw your little blinking eyes,  you have inspired me like none other, my Sister. You have helped me pick pieces up and forced me to move forward, even when failure broke me apart. You taught me so many lessons that today, I feel strong enough to face life’s battles. Sometimes, when things in life go wrong, that is all we need to do, revisit the lessons we have learned. All the problems you were facing are like clouds that are blocking the clear sky, tackle the clouds - it might rain and pour down with problems - but always remember that the sun will appear. The Lord knows how much we can take and how many problems we are capable of facing and believe that he will never burden us with more than we can handle.

They say love makes life worth living. It is indeed true and I learnt that from you. There is nothing that love cannot accomplish; there is nothing that love cannot crack open. Love might shatter our comfort zones, but it will always take us to deeper levels within ourselves. It will force us to expand our boundaries and explore new things. On this my new journey of life that you are about to embark, I hope you take along lots of love.

Security is just an illusion. We feel that we are secure when things that we need are within our reach, when we are able to satisfy our wants and when life is at a pace we can handle. But when we do new things, there is no security. When Neil Armstrong went to the moon, what proof did he have that he would return safe? When Edmund Hillary climbed Mount Everest, what did he carry along for security? These great men broke out of their comfort zones and went ahead to do things they didn’t need to do. Just like how you went out your way to help a woman in distress, just how you gave your hand when the world ignored my cries for help, you made me feel secure. You’ve done great things, break the shackles and fulfill your dreams.

Hope for better things. Hope is one thing that can bring great changes to a person’s life. When we hope, the world aspires and comes together to make it true. Optimism doesn’t fool us that things are better, optimism makes us see things in a new light and that light helps us build our world in the way we want it.

Keep faith and pray everyday, your everyday routine, your good habit. The Lord will always watch us and never, ever let us down. He might give us a few setbacks to humble us, a few successes when he knows we have done our best and failures when we need to work harder. The Lord only intends to make us better people and only wants to help us live our lives to the best we can, at least I believe so and I hope you will too. Never loose faith, for that is where life came from. Our parents had faith that we would be born hale and healthy with two hands, two legs and a heart that will pump efficiently.

You know, in life, there are very few people who really ask us how we are. When people ask it as a formality, we have all the right in the world to pretend that we’re perfect. But when it comes from the heart, when the intention to know how you are is genuine, let the layers fade. Let the reality come out. People say that we need to pretend, as we cannot go around sharing our sorrows. Maybe it’s true; maybe it’s not. I haven’t learnt that yet. But I know that I’m willing to take away a part of your pain by listening to the troubles you had. A problem shared is like a burden lifted off the shoulder, it gets halved. So share not only your joys, but your sorrows too. A joy when shared will multiply and a sorrow? When it shared, it will divide.

I have always admired how you have defined yourself. You were a mini  banker, you are a daughter,  a sister, a friend and I am sure you had played so many more roles in the lives of people around you. But you have always been ‘love’ to me. I love how you have no layers to yourself. I love that innocence, that warmth and that smile that you seem to carry. I love the sweet tune of your voice whenever you talk. Please never change that no matter how stern the world seems on changing it; be yourself. You’re too beautiful a person to turn into a replica of crazy mud-heads. Again, i don't bother where you are ....

I do not know if there is too much advice in this blog or too much advice to me to fight with the world,  but I hope you get the message. I care for you and would only wish you the best. I hope your spirits are high and awakened. I hope that you pop open a bottle of champagne (if you don’t drink, even water would do!), raise a toast to yourself, face life in the eye and say, “I’m ready, bring it on! Show me what you’ve got!” For that’s how strong you are. Put on the best version of yourself and have a great birthday!! :), wherever you are, celebrate your big day my Sis.

Nanu, Mammi, AJA, AAI, Mamu all remembering you on your big day !! Stay Happy, Stay Blessed , i don't bother whose Sister you are today !! You are always great to me  & You are my only Sister !!!

Tons of tight hugs, warm cuddles and lots of love.. Nanu
