Hostel wala Noodles!!

this rainy evening and the lazy day made me down and gave me lil stamina to sit and  write something for you ladies (from girlz i guess) -- it might be after decade !!! Yes it is right!

Proud and happy to share with you some of your words and fun activities, what  i remembered !! The hostel, where we spent years after years is like a second home- where our only asset is our own Bed !! The hostel is like a second home where we are provided with a chance to explore ourselves besides all the crazy stuff which makes hostel life even more special. The memories with friends in hostel life are always priceless whether fighting over a sleeping place near to window or Corridor !!

Before going to the hostel, my family was telling that living in a hostel would be very tough as i will have to do all my stuff, things got real smooth by the passage of time unexpectedly. It feels really good to do your own stuff at hostel with matching the high pace regarding studies and other activities. My life in a hostel is also packed with full of craziness and excitement as I am blessed with a lot of good friends and colleagues but some important aspects I want to mention specifically which are, what i remembered --A Hostel is all about interacting with different people from different backgrounds and your life becomes full of fun when your room-mate turns out to be your best friend. Life in a hostel teaches how to get out of your comfort zone to compromise with the habits of others.

As the time passes, this friendship becomes a priceless bond which is always close to your heart and became more fainted smell and silent, the older you get !! You get adjusted with each other in no time and get to know each other’s personalities very well, support each other in the difficult times and your life becomes real fun while staying together, eating together, laughing out loud together and the list goes on.Go out- for shopping, eating and sometimes just wandering around the city with the right people is all what you need, some days you enjoy cooking together. You plan to watch movies and sometimes you just enjoy the random gossips.Decorating your room and making it prettier than other girls’ rooms, this is your main mission of staying at the hostel. You can decorate your room with attractive posters, photographs and lots and lots of attractive stuff that eventually you will end up spending major part of your pocket money buying such stuff.
Sometimes you feel so lazy to cook something time taking and then here’s the ‘Holy 2 minute Maggie” to save you from starvation. It saves your time and you don’t need to starve though Maggie always plays a vital role at the end of the month after spending a lot a money on food lavishly – ending your pocket money before you get the new. The funniest part how we made our Maggie with an immersion rod !!
We just just made some water left in a steel bowl as much as time, the bowl can beat the heat, then just put some cruchy Maggie in it and cover the bowl  with the heaviest book, what you have !! I always used to put kreyszig Mathematics Book or Instrumentation Book(A.K Shawhney) and you no need to stir your Maggie and found your tasty boiled noodles ready to eat !! I was loving It!! and today i made same boiled Maggie with no additives !!
Weekend Nights in the hostel are fun. If you have nothing to do and feel bored just put on some desi songs and hit the floor. You don’t need to be a pro dancer, if you know how to have fun, you can dance to your craziest level without any self consciousness.
Miss you All !! Happy friendship day    !!

Shubhashree !!

week in week out

                                                         On a Monday
I tried
To begin my life anew
Till on Tuesday
A feeling of uneasiness, doubtfulness  grew
Come Wednesday
And a sling of self-accusations flew
Thursday brought with itself
A slightly depressive hue
So that Friday
From me
Little excitement drew
And the weekend
Brought with it
It’s own heavy due
Till on Monday
I decided
To live my life a new-
fly high and catch you light, hug you tight

P.S- first try

My Woman of Substance !!

There is a change afoot. A little vein of gold ore has rippled through our lives and altered the status quo, brightening everything in its path. It is a change amid many changes and, as I am wont to do, I have tried to place it perfectly. To make it fit without changing anything else. To order things as I think they might be pleasing to everyone. Myself included.

But Life isn’t like that. The Universe doesn’t filter blessings through a funnel and into the only space they might fit. The Universe doesn’t see the order and go to the back of the line. No, the Universe drizzles blessings over a life in a dizzy, sort of haphazard and celebratory fashion. Our only job is to turn the umbrella upside down and collect as many drops as possible.
And in some ways–

Well, in a lot of ways. I feel like I put my needs in front of  MOM’ her whole lives. . That’s my knee jerk self-narrative. That I’ve been a taker and not a giver. But when I really study my life for the past nine years, I think that’s actually not the case at all. For seven years I have sacrificed anything I might call my own—gladly and willingly—to be of service to these . To right my wrongs. To be the port in the storm. To be the calm amid . And it was a choice I made one hundred percent peacefully. It was a pure pleasure to be of use. To be of service.

I devoted my life to myself as well. My own heart. My own soul. And in many ways, my own pain. I sat many nights in the dark untangling my own secret shames. Going back to where it broke and healing it properly. I said to a friend once that I feel like everywhere I look there are broken pieces. She rephrased my words more kindly, “Only frayed edges,” she said. “and you can simply tie them back together.”

My life was solitary. I did not look like other people’s. It did not look like every holiday special. It did not look like Valentine’s Day commercials. It was not reflected back to me by the media or by Bollywood, Hollywood as any version of success or completeness. But I knew this was right. I knew this was the journey I understood: to be of service. This, the long road. The long way around.
I purged broken dreams. Lost paths. Comparative thinking. I built up a world that was my definition of success. That was complete to my way of thinking.

Along the way, I hope I was a good friend. Undoubtedly I am a good friend of my Mother. And I hope I am faithful. I think I am. I kept my head down and worked to be patient. I was determined to be a channel of peace. I worked to meet chaos with gentleness in so many places and I think I succeeded as much as I didn’t at that. But I wanted so much, and it was so clear to me, that I should try to clear out confusion and make a little light.

But, these blessings. Drip drop. They came when I wasn’t looking.
Here and there. A little of this. A little of that. A blink. A smile. A wish.
Drip, drip, drop.

I said to Mamma  the other day, “Is this okay? Is this weird? Are we okay in this new space? On the doorstep of this new thing?”

She unfolded herself from her bed and came over and gave me a hug, that day !!

“Mom,”  i said. “You have given your life to us. There isn’t a time I remember where you took anything for yourself. Not food. Not money. Not clothes. Not time.”

She said, “Look…I had to force you to promise me the other day that you would use that much  on yourself and not me and Will!” And we laughed for a little bit at that. Then her expression sobered again.

“Mom,” she said again. “It’s time. It’s time for you to take something for yourself. Something that is just for you. It’s okay–we’re okay–because of you.”
And so.

And so we are. And so I will .. !!
